WANA (May 12) – Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister and a member of Iran’s negotiating team in the talks between Iran and the United States, referred to the existing challenges in the negotiation process, saying: “One of the main obstacles is the contradictory positions taken by U.S. officials, which create mistrust.”

He emphasized: “We hear a lot of conflicting statements from the American side. For example, the U.S. President makes a remark, and then another official says something completely different. These contradictions have made the negotiations both difficult and ambiguous.”

Takht-Ravanchi added: “In recent discussions, we have asked for these ambiguities to be clarified. It is impossible to reach reliable outcomes with such behavior, as some of these positions are even threatening in nature. They are not reassuring—in fact, they create doubt and mistrust.”

He continued, referring to the ongoing talks: “Despite these challenges, the content of the discussions indicates that the American side is interested in moving the negotiations forward. So far, four rounds of talks have been held. While the exact timing of the next round is yet to be determined, both sides have agreed in principle to continue.”

In conclusion, Takht-Ravanchi stressed: “We are keeping our eyes open and closely monitoring the negotiation process to ensure we achieve our legitimate goals within the framework of our national interests.”
